Haven Bay: Back to School NIght and First Day of School

Haven Bay: Back to School NIght and First Day of School

‍Haven Bay Elementary

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to the start of our school year on this Wednesday.  Although we would love to be all at Haven Bay starting this year we want you to know of our commitment to making the start at Hooper and Kanesville as smooth as we possibly can.  We have spent a lot of time preparing for your kids and are excited the day has come. It is going to be a great year! I apologize for the long email, but there are some important things to keep in mind so please read through it:

-Back to School tomorrow (August 20th) from 3:30-6:00.  This will be an open house format so feel free to come at any time.

  • K, 1st, and 6th will be at Hooper Elementary
  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be at Kanesville Elementary.
  • If you have any supplies from the supply list on our website please bring them to the classroom at Back to School night tomorrow.  This list is located on the havenbay.wsd.net homepage.
  • We will have staff members at the front entrance at Hooper and Kanesville assisting you with room locations.
  • Buses are provided to transport students while attending Kanesville and Hooper.  Please click on the bus stop locator District Bus stop Locator and simply type in your address and it will tell you the bus number and estimated time of pickup (arrive a few minutes before the arrival time)

  • Important information about buses.  Buses to Kanesville and Hooper will be at the same stop but have different bus numbers based on where they are going.  Each bus will be labeled with the school name and the grade levels and the bus driver will let students know which school they are going to go.  It is really important your children know that if they are in K, 1st, or 6th they get on the bus going to Hooper.  If they are in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th they will take the Kanesville bus.

  • On our first day all Haven Bay students at Hooper will line up by the basketball courts on the west side (near the bike racks) in the morning of the first day of school at 8:30 when the bell rings.  Haven Bay students at Kanesville will line up on the grass field on the west by the fence on the north side of the field.  There will be classroom signs with teacher names and our staff will have Haven Bay lanyards and name tags on that first day so students can identify our Haven Bay staff.

  • School is on an early out schedule Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week released at 12:20.

  • Even though we are at Hooper and Kanesville we will function as Haven Bay at both locations.  This means our phones have been relocated to the two schools.  If you need anything please contact us at (801) 622-3270.  Our Administrative Assistant, Maurie Pomeroy will be at Kanesville and our Office Aide, Robyn Alexander will be at Hooper ready to assist with what you need.

We realize having siblings at different locations can be challenging and an inconvenience.  Please keep in mind this is only for a temporary time and we will be together at Haven Bay.  We appreciate your support and look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

‍Justin Skeen
