Dear Parents,
We are really looking forward to having all students and staff together at Haven Bay this Monday, September 9th. Reminder, we are having an open house from 3:30-5:30 this afternoon to see the location of your child’s classroom along with other parts of the building. Please remember that this is not a “back to school night”. We will have signs throughout the building to help you navigate along with staff to answer questions. If you are not able to make it, don't worry, on Monday we will have staff outside in the morning helping direct students where to go. There will be another event when the building is completely finished.
Â
As you may be aware, we have recently received occupancy for our new building, which is a significant milestone in our journey towards providing a safe and conducive environment for our students and staff. However, it's important to note that while the building is not yet entirely finished, many of the ongoing works on the ground level are primarily aesthetic in nature. For example, construction is continuing throughout this weekend which means there will be additional parts of the building not completed this afternoon that will be ready on Monday. At this time we will not be utilizing the second level.Â
Bringing our students and staff together under one roof, despite the building being not fully completed, offers several crucial benefits:
Community and Unity: Having everyone in one location fosters a sense of community and unity among students, staff, and faculty. This cohesion is essential for a positive learning and working environment.
Operational Continuity: Consolidating our operations in one building allows us to streamline administrative processes, enhance communication, and ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
Safety and Security: The areas that are essential for safety, such as classrooms, hallways, and emergency exits, are fully operational and compliant with all safety regulations. Ensuring the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
Academic Progress: Being in one location enables us to optimize our educational resources and facilities, ensuring that our students have access to the best possible learning environment.
We realize there have been questions on what the school will look like as construction needs to continue in parts of the building. We hope this will answer those questions as we have worked closely with the building contractor and District Facilities Department to ensure we have a safe learning environment for our students while still completing the construction of our beautiful school. Here are some of those details:
Any work that needs to be completed on the first floor will be outside of school hours. If there is a need to come down to check something on the first floor the general contractor will notify the school first.
Construction workers working inside the building will be in their upstairs work areas by 8:00 before students come into school.
Bathroom facilities for construction workers will remain outside and away from the building.
Construction workers will park off school property to the west of the school.
During the designated lunch time for construction workers they will enter and exit through a door that is not used by students during lunchtime.
All access points to the 2nd floor will be closed off for students and specific procedures will be taught to all students on Monday.
There are 3 playgrounds with a large area of blacktop for students to play with sod being laid very soon. Once the sod is ready for student traffic the cones will be removed.
While we understand the desire for a fully completed facility, we want to assure you that the remaining work will not interfere with our core mission of providing quality education and a safe environment for our students. More information will be sent out before Monday with an overhead drop off and pick up map and additional school procedures for students. We are so excited to see you this afternoon!
Sincerely,
