Subject: Haven Bay First Week Update

Dear Haven Bay Parents, Guardians and Employees:

As we wrap up the first week of school at Haven Bay, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your continued support and understanding. It has been a great week!  We have made a few minor adjustments to the safety procedures based on feedback to ensure the well-being of our students during the ongoing construction. We have had a significant amount of school and district staff onsite all week, and the week has gone well.

I want to keep you informed about ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of our students during the construction process. Westland, our building contractor, has met with all employees and subcontractors to reemphasize that workers are only allowed in designated areas at specific times, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining a safe environment for everyone.  During recess and before and after school there is staff supervision on the playground and in drop off/pick areas in front of the building.

On a brighter note, we are excited to share some of the additional things that have been completed this week since the open house last Friday:

  • We now have sod on the field.

  • The floor down the hallway near the gym should be completed or nearly complete by Monday.

  • The floor in the cafeteria is completed and we are serving hot lunches prepared here at Haven Bay each day.

  • The gates on the kindergarten playground have been installed.

These are just some of the things completed this week, and each and every day the work continues with progress being noticeable throughout the building.  It has been so great for us to have all of our students together at Haven Bay.  Being at our school has allowed additinal space for lunch, recess, math/reading testing, reading groups and PLC rotations in each grade which will start on Tuesday.

Please note that construction crews will continue to work until late in the evening each night.  As a result, it is important for students to come home right after school and not use any of the playgrounds outside of school hours.  The sod will be ready for play in a month so we are planning on it after fall break.

Our staff is committed to providing a safe, positive learning environment for all students.  We will continue to update you on the progress of our school.  Thank you again for your patience and partnership as we navigate this exciting time of growth at Haven Bay. We look forward to the weeks ahead!

Sincerely,
