Haven Bay Elementary is soaring to new heights, and our Herons have another incredible reason to celebrate! The school community is thrilled to officially introduce our new Administrative Apprentice, Monica Widdison! Known to students as Mrs. Widdison, she brings an incredible wealth of experience, passion, and enthusiasm to our leadership team. With 18 dedicated years in the Weber School District—including 14 years teaching fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, plus 4 years as a Digital Teaching & Learning Specialist—she is fully prepared to support our students, staff, and families in making this school year extraordinary.
Mrs. Widdison’s impressive educational journey reflects her deep commitment to learning and leadership. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Early Childhood and Science, as well as a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Weber State University. In addition to her Elementary and Administrative licenses, she holds endorsements in both ESL and Educational Technology. Having previously served at Municipal, Country View, and Freedom elementary schools, her heart for education shines through in everything she does. When asked about the absolute best part of her job, Mrs. Widdison shared that she loves seeing the excitement on students' faces during an "Ah Ha" moment, collaborating with fellow educators, and embarking on new daily adventures with our Herons!
Beyond her outstanding professional background, Mrs. Widdison embraces life with warmth, humor, and plenty of fun 🎉! Her favorite motto is Glennon Doyle's encouraging reminder, "You can do hard things," which perfectly mirrors the resilient spirit of Haven Bay. Outside of school, she loves camping, reading a good book, taking naps, and spending quality time with her family. A big fan of mini schnauzers, Diet Coke, movie theater popcorn, and the movie Jurassic Park, she also shares a home full of surprises thanks to an animal-loving husband who frequently brings home new pets!
