Haven Bay Elementary School is buzzing with energy as our incredible students continue to demonstrate what it truly means to be a Great Blue Heron! 🪶 Yesterday, Mrs. Burton’s fifth-grade classroom transformed into a lively hands-on learning lab for the ultimate toothpaste challenge. Students were given one fast-paced minute to squeeze an entire tube of toothpaste out, followed by a second chaotic minute where they attempted the impossible task of putting it all back in. The classroom filled with laughter and excitement as hands got messy and the clock ticked down, setting the stage for a unforgettable lesson.
Following the messy activity, the class gathered for a special reading of Mr. Peabody’s Apples. As the story unfolded, our fifth graders connected the dots between the overflowing toothpaste and the power of their everyday speech. They discovered a profound life lesson that will stay with them far beyond the classroom: just like toothpaste rushing out of a tube, once unkind words leave your mouth, you can never truly take them back. It was an inspiring moment of reflection that highlighted the heart and character of our school community. 💙
We could not be prouder of our Herons for discovering how to lead with empathy, thoughtfulness, and genuine kindness every single day. Their enthusiasm for growing into respectful leaders makes Haven Bay Elementary such a bright and uplifting place for all of our families. Be sure to head over to the Haven Bay Elementary photo drive under the fifth-grade posts on Facebook, Insta, and our WSD App to check out all the wonderful, smiling pictures captured during yesterday's lesson. Keep soaring high, Great Blue Herons! ✨
