phases of the moon with Oreos

Learning reached new heights at Haven Bay Elementary School as our sixth graders took a delicious approach to astronomy! Our young Herons soared into their science curriculum by building hands-on models of the moon phases using Oreo cookies.

Students carefully scraped away cream filling to represent the glowing light of each lunar phase around Earth, mapping out everything from the New Moon to a radiant Full Moon on their interactive activity sheets. The classroom was buzzing with focused energy as classmates collaborated, shaded diagram cycles, and shaped their sweet creations.

This memorable activity demonstrated how interactive, hands-on learning helps complex scientific concepts truly click for our students. It is moments like these that highlight the creative spirit and dedication to excellence at Haven Bay Elementary. Great job to our sixth-grade Herons for shooting for the stars! 🚀
