We want to give a big thank you to U.S. Representative Blake Moore for visiting Haven Bay Elementary on Monday! 🇺🇸✨

Representative Moore, who serves Utah’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, spoke with our 4th–6th graders about how a bill makes its way through the House and Senate, what it takes to be elected, and the importance of treating others with kindness—even when we have differences. 💙 Our Herons also had the chance to ask him questions about his job, his family, and government in general. Representative Moore was very impressed with the thoughtful questions our students asked! 👏👏

We are so grateful for the opportunity our students had to learn firsthand about government and leadership. 🦅📚

🎉 Big excitement at Haven Bay yesterday afternoon! 🎉 We rolled out the Heron welcome for a very special guest — Speaker of the House Mike Schultz! 🪶 He spent the afternoon touring our school, stopping into classrooms, chatting with faculty and staff, and even grabbing time in the lunchroom with some of our students. Speaker Schultz had wonderful things to say about the amazing learning happening at Haven Bay and also took time to listen and learn about the educational needs across Weber School District. 💙📚 What an honor to showcase the spirit, talent, and heart of our incredible students, staff, and community!

Today was an amazing day at Haven Bay—we celebrated our Superintendent Summer Reading & Math Awards! Each year, our Superintendent sends out log sheets for students to record their summer reading and math practice. Our hardworking Herons filled them out, turned them in, and today we got to recognize all of their effort! 🎉 A huge thank you to our District leaders who joined us—reading to each grade level, presenting awards, and making this celebration extra special. 🙌

We are so proud of our students for keeping their minds sharp all summer long—way to go, Haven Bay! 💙

🔬💧 Mrs. Burton’s 5th graders turned into real SCIENTISTS on Tuesday! 🧪👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 Their mission: to test 4 different clear substances and use their knowledge of science to figure out which one was actually WATER. 💦

With curiosity and teamwork, they tested properties like:
✨ Solubility (what dissolves and what doesn’t)
❄️ Freezing point (brrr… science is cool!)
🌊 Surface tension (water can really “stick” together!)

It was an investigation full of predictions, experiments, and discoveries—and our young scientists proved that learning can be both challenging AND exciting! 🚀 Way to go, 5th graders—you’re making waves in science! 🌟

🚤🐛 Our 5th graders took on a big STEM challenge this week – saving Fred the gummy worm!

In this cooperative team-building activity, students worked in pairs to rescue Fred, who managed to capsize his boat and lose his life preserver. Using only teamwork, problem-solving skills, and plenty of creativity, they had to:
1️⃣ Flip Fred’s boat back over
2️⃣ Slip on his life preserver
3️⃣ Keep him out of the “lake” 🌊

We loved watching students collaborate, communicate, and celebrate their successes together. Way to go, 5th graders – Fred is safe thanks to you! 🎉👏 Pictures of some of our rescuers from Mrs. Burton's class.

In a school hallway, a group of older students walks in a line, some wearing leis and dressed up, while younger students stand on both sides clapping for them. The hallway has white walls, light-colored floors, and geometric mountain-shaped wall decor. An elevator with a sign reading “ELEVATOR” is visible on the left, along with a wooden door labeled “STORAGE.” Overhead, green “EXIT” signs hang from the ceiling. The scene appears to be a celebratory walk, possibly for graduating or moving-up students.

A large indoor stepped seating area is lined with various lost-and-found items, including jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, pants, hats, and water bottles. Items are spread out across multiple rows, organized loosely by type. One hoodie in the front row is gray with an image of a bison and the text “YELLOWSTONE” printed on it. A bright yellow helmet is also visible among the belongings. The space has light-colored flooring and walls, metal railings on both sides, and wood paneling near the top.

The end-of-year kickball game between the 6th grade and the staff was fun for everyone! 🥳 Although the staff gave it their all—and Mr. Skeen even attempted to catch a ball with his face 🤕—the sixth graders came out on top. 🏆 They were focused, determined, and united in their goal to beat the staff team. 💪 The spectators actively cheered for their team to win 📣, and their energy helped spur the sixth grade to victory. 🎉 Way to go, sixth grade! 🙌 #HBES #sixthgrade #schoolspirit #kickball #WeberDistrict

🚒 The Safety Brigade Visits Haven Bay! 🔥 Today, our kindergarten through third-grade students had an exciting and educational visit from the Safety Brigade! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒 This dedicated team, made up of Weber Fire Department employees, specializes in teaching general safety tips and fire safety lessons to communities and schools. 🏫 During their visit, students learned valuable information about first aid 🩹, outdoor safety 🌳, and fire safety 🚨 through engaging, age-appropriate demonstrations and activities. 🎉 We're so grateful to the Safety Brigade for helping our students become more aware and prepared to stay safe in various situations! 🙌 Thank you, Weber Fire Department, for your continued service and commitment to educating our youth! ❤️👧🧒 #weberfiredistrict #HBES #safetyfirst @weberfiredistrict
