🥢 Picking Up New Skills at Haven Bay! Happy National Chopstick Day! Our second-grade Herons took on a "hands-on" challenge today as they dove into the history and art of using chopsticks. From practicing their fine motor skills to testing their patience, these students showed true Heron perseverance! They spent the morning mastering the technique by moving colorful beads between cups—which is much trickier than it looks!

Watching them help one another and celebrate every successful "catch" was the highlight of our day. We love seeing our students embrace new cultural experiences and sharpen those coordination skills. Great job, second grade! Keep soaring! 💙

Our first graders at Haven Bay Elementary took "paws-itive" vibes to a whole new level this week! To celebrate their 101st Day of School, the hallway turned into a sea of spots as our students transformed into the most adorable pack of Dalmatians you’ve ever seen. 🐶 While our mascot might be the Great Blue Heron, for one day only, it was all about the pups! It’s been 101 days of learning, growing, and soaring to new heights. We are so proud of how far our little Herons—err, Dalmatians—have come since the first day of school. Check out the photos below to see if you can spot your favorite little pup! Let’s keep this momentum going as we head into the rest of the school year.

What an incredible week it was at Haven Bay Elementary! Our Herons truly soared during Red Ribbon Week, showing everyone that making healthy choices is always in style. From wild hair to cozy pajamas, our students brought so much energy and heart to every single day. We painted the school RED to show our commitment to healthy living. We "socked it" to unhealthy habits with some seriously Crazy Socks on Tuesday and took it easy in our PJs while dreaming big for our futures on Wednesday. Things got a little wild with Crazy Hair Day—creativity was at an all-time high! We wrapped it all up with School Spirit Day, proving that Herons fly best when we fly together! "Be proud, be strong, be healthy!"

A huge thank you to our amazing students, staff, and parents for making this week such a success. We are so proud of the smart, healthy choices our Herons are making every day.

🏇 Mavericks in the Bay! 🏇 There is something truly special happening when the "Big Mavericks" and the "Little Herons" team up! 🌟 It's Community in Action! Did you know that the Latinos in Action (LIA) team from Mountain View Jr. High come to Haven Bay to help students from multiple grades improve their skills and build positive relationships?

For those who don't know, Latinos in Action is an incredible program where middle and high school students focus on service, leadership, and academic excellence. These students aren't just leaders in their own hallways—they’re mentors who show up to empower the next generation. Our 2nd graders were buzzing with excitement to work in small groups with these amazing role models. The connection between these Jr. High mentors and our students were pure magic as they worked to build bridges between schools, Provide extra hands-on help for our 2nd-grade learners, and showing our Herons what it looks like to lead with kindness.

At Haven Bay, we don't just learn together—we grow together. Seeing our local Jr. High students give back to our elementary classrooms is what community is all about!"💙 Check out these snapshots of the LIA team in action! 📸👇

🎶 Haven Bay 6th graders had an absolute blast Friday morning visiting Rocky Mountain Junior High! It was a day full of creativity, rhythm, and future inspiration. Our students got a sneak peek into the world of Performing Arts and jumped right into the action! 🎭They broke the ice playing fun improv games in Drama. 🎻 They were swept away by some stirring music with Orchestra. 🎤 In Choir, they warmed up their vocal cords and sang along.🎺 They listened to an impressive competition piece with the Band! The highlight? Every student got the chance to try out different band and orchestra instruments hands-on! 🎷🥁

Research shows that fine arts help students find success in so many areas of life, from confidence to academics. We are so proud of our 6th Grade Great Blue Herons and hope to see many of them signing up for fine arts classes in junior high!
Go Herons! 💙🪶

Digital illustration of five happy children in a cozy room, singing into microphones and holding sheet music. They wear red Santa hats and warm sweaters. A glowing Christmas tree stands to the left, and bright sunlight streams through a large window in the background.
🐦❄️ Our Second Grade Herons have been soaring to new heights (and even hibernating a bit) lately! Check out the amazing adventure they had at the Ogden Nature Center on Friday. It was a day full of discovery, laughter, and learning what it takes to survive the chill. Our students stepped into the world of winter wildlife to see how animals adapt when the temperature drops. They tackled the Big Sleep: Students crawled into a real bear den to get a firsthand feel for what hibernation is truly like (Don't worry, they didn't stay all winter!), and explored the clever ways animals change their bodies and behaviors to survive the Utah frost. To help our local birds keep their energy up, every student crafted a custom pinecone bird feeder to take home.

A huge thank you to our incredible Parent Chaperones who took their roles to the next level! They put their theater skills to the test by acting as "migratory obstacles" for our student "animals." From playing rolling mountain boulders and hungry mountain lions to the occasional speeding car on a mountain trail, they made the lesson on migration both hilarious and unforgettable. It’s days like these that make being a Haven Bay Heron so special. Hands-on learning creates memories that last a lifetime! We are so proud of our students for being such curious and brave explorers. Way to go, Haven Bay! 💙🛡️

What an unforgettable evening! Last night, Haven Bay Elementary celebrated a huge milestone: our first-ever Haven Bay Choir performance! 🎉 Our talented students shone brightly, filling the gym with beautiful, festive sounds. We couldn't be prouder of their hard work and dedication. A massive, Great Blue Heron-sized thank you goes out to the incredible people who made this dream a reality! Our Choir Director, Carly Sowby (Third Grade), for taking the lead and pouring your heart into starting and directing our choir this year! Chelley Hogge (Sixth Grade) and Kristin Peterson for their invaluable help and support! The performance was a true testament to the fantastic things happening here at Haven Bay. We are so grateful for our students, staff, and supportive parent community! Who knew Herons were song birds!

5th Grade Haven Bay Herons soared to success in November! 💙

We're still buzzing from the incredible energy our 5th-grade students brought to their field trip last month at Junior Achievement City BizTown! They didn't just visit a city, they ran one! 🏢 Our young Great Blue Herons transformed into CEOs, CFOs, City Mayors, and local entrepreneurs, learning first-hand about financial literacy, business management, and the importance of teamwork. They managed payroll, balanced budgets, and took on real-world jobs—connecting everything they learn in the classroom to the world outside! We couldn't be prouder of the critical thinking and collaboration skills they showcased. Way to fuel the future, Herons! 🌟

⚡️ Fifth Grade also had a Reverse Field Trip where the learning came to HBES! Our fantastic 5th graders recently tested their speed and smarts with Reaction Time! They had a blast exploring science and discovering how fast they could react to different challenges. Talk about quick thinkers! 📚 Amazing Learning Every Day! In all our classrooms, we're seeing students collaborate, create, and conquer new concepts! From reading adventures to math masterpieces, our Haven Bay Herons are showing up ready to learn and grow.

We are so proud of our students and the amazing work they're doing! Keep up the great work, Herons!
