Other children sit in a large circle around them, watching and waiting their turn. In the background, several adults stand observing, some holding phones or umbrellas for shade. Buckets and water bottles are scattered nearby. A sign with mostly unreadable text is visible, though one word appears to read "Station." The sky is clear and the mood is lively and fun.

The end-of-year kickball game between the 6th grade and the staff was fun for everyone! 🥳 Although the staff gave it their all—and Mr. Skeen even attempted to catch a ball with his face 🤕—the sixth graders came out on top. 🏆 They were focused, determined, and united in their goal to beat the staff team. 💪 The spectators actively cheered for their team to win 📣, and their energy helped spur the sixth grade to victory. 🎉 Way to go, sixth grade! 🙌 #HBES #sixthgrade #schoolspirit #kickball #WeberDistrict

🐣🦋🐞 2nd Grade Life Cycles Project – A Journey of Growth 🐛🌿🦗 This spring, our classroom transformed into a living laboratory where curiosity took flight—literally! Through our Life Cycles Project, students had the chance to observe and nurture real animals from beginning to end, learning firsthand about the miraculous cycles of life. 🌱 Butterflies From tiny caterpillars to chrysalises to vibrant, fluttering butterflies, students watched the complete metamorphosis unfold. We released our butterflies today, setting them free to explore their wild home. 🦗 Praying Mantis Our praying mantis nymphs emerged in a burst of excitement, teaching students about camouflage, predation, and the delicate balance of nature. Today, we bid them farewell into the wild. 🐞 Ladybugs These helpful garden guests were the first to complete their journey. Students watched them grow from larvae to spotted beetles, releasing them last week with joy and pride. 🐣 Chicks Possibly the most beloved part of the project—our fluffy baby chicks stole hearts and sparked conversations about warmth, care, and growth. They peeped their way into our routines and left for their new home last Friday. Throughout the project, students developed not only scientific knowledge but also empathy, patience, and respect for all living things. We’re so proud of the learning, care, and curiosity they showed every day. Though our animal friends have moved on to their next chapters, the lessons they brought will stay with the students forever. #success #HBES #lifelessons #secondgrade

Tomorrow, March 21, is ROCK YOUR SOCKS Day! Wear funky, mismatched socks to school to help raise awareness about Down Syndrome. Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Ds chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!
